  3. Parade naked? Castration? Stoned to death? How do you punish rapists?
Is death Penalty enough for rapist? NO – scream women across India. Death is actually an easy way out for a monster who feel powerful by forcing themselves on vulnerable women.

Gang raped, brutally assaulted, beaten senseless and left to die – as the details of this henious crime emerged, a shiver of spine-tingling horror ran through every woman and even left the men aghast. It was not that gang rape was a rare occurrence in Delhi but its frequency and ferocity has outraged not just Delhiites but every Indian.

Most of these people believe that the death penalty will not serve as a deterrent, it would probably only increase the incidents of death after rape.

Even after 72 hours, we at Dailybhaskar.com are still in a state of shock and strongly rooting for castration as the ultimate punishment.

Manila Venugopal, says all the rapists to be castrated and be branded with the word ‘RAPIST’ on their forehead. So that each time they look at themselves in the mirror they are reminded of the crime they have committed. Put up posters with their faces and let the public decide if they are ready to accept such people in society.

They say it’s an equal world and that’s how it should be perceived and echoing that logic, Rukma Dutta, thinks rapists should be made to go through the same torture they should be paraded naked and publicly beaten up by woman who they dared to touch.

“While everybody has been talking about death penalty being meted out to the culprits of Delhi gang rape case, I don’t think that’s the right solution. Why can’t we enforce a law wherein people involved in such heinous crimes are subjected to the same torture and trauma? That’s why castration is the solution. Cut it out to stop such shameful acts, exclaims Divya Pal.

The women are feeling the pain and they want the rapists to go through the same hell that they forced the victim into on the unfortunate night of Saturday. “Death penalty alone would not stop this brutal crime. The offender should be made to feel the same pain, agony, trauma what he gave the poor victim during the crime. Rape is not by need, it is by choice. A severe precedent has to be set to instill a sense of fear in the mind of the offender even before he begins to think about committing this inhumane act. The rapists should be publicly stoned to death prevent such crimes feels Nancy Kohli.

And if the government is not acting or can’t feel our pain, let us- the society- get hold of such accused ourselves and lynch and inflict the same pain on him. We should make him suffer brutally every hour he lives,” adds Nancy.

Pragyaa Chandel echoes a similar sentiment when she says, “I raped a woman but I do not believe that I am a pathological sex offender. I have a college degree in the arts from a prestigious school” This is an excerpt from police reports of a convicted rapist. Is this statement simple enough to let brutal rapists undergo a treatment in the mental asylum without any traumatic punishment? Well, words would really be missing if you could even understand 1/100th of the kind of trauma that the Delhi rape victim is going through. I believe that such incidences flourish because the perpetrators of such barbarism know that they would simply go scot free by greasing as many palms, buy off witnesses and work over the papers to get a clean chit in rape/murder cases.”

“As a women, I strongly believe that first and foremost, a state of emergency must be declared for the safety of women as the situation can’t get worse. Secondly, the person should not die but should be made to face the agony and trauma,” concludes Pragyaa.

Some women are even of the opinion that lack of harsh punishment in this case would lead to multiplication of such heinous crimes. ” I don’t quite know why we’re still debating the idea of castration? Isn’t this appalling episode enough to wake up the authorities! There shouldn’t be a doubt about taking away the manhood of these animals who left the lady in that squishy-squashy state that’s too horrific to even empathize with. Castration is the only punishment and if that’s not going to be undertaken, courtesy the concern all the human rights organizations might exercise, then guess we are only waiting for more men to turn into animals and not just rob us of our dignity, but leave us with a scar that’ll live with this humanity beyond eternity,” adds Ankita Shukla.

  4. Maharashtra supports death penalty for gang-rape convicts
    Dec 21, 2012, 02.38AM IST TNN[ Sharad Vyas & Vaibhav Ganjapure ]

NAGPUR: As the country speaks out against the gruesome gang rape of a physiotherapy student in New Delhi, state home minister RR Patil said on Thursday they will ask the centre to provide for the harshest punishment, including death penalty, in gang-rape cases. He also advocated making eve-teasing a non-bailable offence to curb the menace.

Patil’s announcement came during a debate under rule 97 in the upper house over increasing crime against women in the state. Expressing anger and shock over the incident in Delhi, several women MLCs asked the state government to petition the centre to add death penalty as a punishment for gang rape. If adequate steps are not taken to ensure safety of women, a time will come when they will be forced to take the law into their hands to punish offenders, the members warned.

The minister said the government had set up 12 special courts, along with fast track courts, to deal with crimes against women and also set up counselling centres at various police stations. He also vowed to take action against vulgar and objectionable content flashed across the print and electronic media.

Citing statistics, Patil said that crime against women had actually reduced by 1.5% in the state as compared to last year, though there was some rise in major crimes like rape. He made a significant observation that in 98% of rape cases, the accused was known to the victim.

Patil further assured to take strict action against those involved in sex-determination tests, which is also a crime against women. He also said CCTV cameras will be installed at public places with plain cops policemen deployed to curb crime.

The issue was raised by leader of opposition Vinod Tawde, who urged the government to put in place security measures to ensure women’s safety. In reply, Patil assured that necessary steps will be taken to make Maharashtra safer for women. « When Maharashtra witnessed a Delhi-like incident a few years back in Ahmednagar, we decided to alter our laws and put in place necessary safety measures, » he said, adding that the Delhi incident exposed loopholes in state, police and law machineries of the country.

Several women legislators were extremely disturbed while debating the issue, and even demanded ‘castration’ of criminals in heinous cases of rapes. « If need be, women will come out on the streets to castrate rapists. Then don’t tell us to be patient, » said Sena’s Neelam Gorhe. Several members aggressively made their point, including Deepti Chaudhary, Shobhatai Fadnavis, Alka Desai, Vidya Chavan and minister for women and child development Varsha Gaikwad.

Patil also said that the recommendations of Justice (Retd) Chandrashekhar Dharmadhikari committee to prevent crimes against women were being put in place. He promised that once fully implemented they will ensure a drop in the crime rate.

Warning police officers to be more sensitive towards rape victims, Patil said strictest action will be taken against officers who ask needless questions to women, make them uncomfortable by their conduct. « I want to tell my officers that I’ll support them if they take action with proper intentions. However, if they do something that brings disrepute to the uniform, the state will not hesitate to punish them, » he said, while accepting an urgent need to motivate the police force for more efficiency.

  5. WAAR : Women for Action Against Rapists

WAAR : Women for Action Against Rapists
    ===========================================================

    Enough Is Enough.
Women, time for talks is over. It is the time to act now.

The legislators we elected to protect us and care for our well being have failed us.
The only thing that matters to them is money, scams and power.
If these men want sex in return for favours, it’s better we are on our own.

The policemen required to safeguard us and save us from evil,
Are themselves hand in glove with perpetrators of most evils,
They’ll sell their daughters for some money,
What do they care about another woman’s dignity.

Our fathers and brothers and sons have stood mute,
They never had the guts or they didn’t care,
Else no woman would have to witness such tragedy.

Women, in this big bad world we are alone…
Woman with woman we will avenge all the wrongs.
Not love, but knives and acids we shall carry,
Seeking justice for our sisters who are dead while still living.

    =============================================

I call upon every woman of this country who cares even a dime about what happened to another helpless woman in Delhi on 17th Dec night, to step forward please. And if you don’t care enough, let me just warn you the next time it could be you. If you are a mother, then it could be your young daughter.

    I say, Enough Is Enough.
    Bahut ho gaya yaar.

Bahut dekh li politicians ki chutiyapanti. Bahut dekh li police walon ki bahaduri.

There is nobody out there in the world who really cares about us. The Madamji’s and the Behenji’s have no reason to worry. They and their progeny have gun toting security to guard them 24*7. Do we really expect them to understand our plight, the plight of the common woman who has to take buses, metro and autos to commute everyday, be it night or day?

    I say, Enough Is Enough.

Hamne bahut sahay liya weaker sex bankar. For all our goodness only evil and atrocities were heaped upon us. After being ill treated for so long and so badly, even an animal as lame as a donkey would retaliate. We are humans with much more emotions.

Ladies, it is time for us to pick up our knives and revolt.

The kitchen knife that lovingly diced fruits and vegetables for your family, will now be your protection against the big bad world. It will be the trishul that will hunt down the hunter and slice those that have harmed any woman whosoever.

If the whole world has come to madness, we too shall behave as one. These mad men rape one of us, we shall give it back to them equally and thrice more. We will stalk them everywhere, be it court, kachahari, police station or their homes. Wherever we get an opportunity we shall pounce on them. They should be shown no mercy, acid thrown on their faces. Every rapist should be taught a lesson, and a lesson for all others too.

Ladies, it is high time. It is time that we roused ourselves and showed the world what we are capable of.

The lawyers, the judges, the Home Ministry, the Chief Ministry, the Prime Ministry, the High Court, the Supreme Court no one really cares. If they did, there would have been a long time ago fast track courts, castration and death sentences for these bastards. But everybody is only interested in saving their Kursi and a rosy future post retirement.

    Nobody really has the balls.
And since the men with the balls do not have the galls, we the women have to show some balls.

Sisters let us all come together with one common goal,

    Enough is Enough.
Never again will another girl cry helpless as she is raped.
She will know that she will definitely be avenged.
Men will think thrice before attempting to rape,
His takeaway from it, castration, acid on his face, his body slashed.

For the lame politicians, law keepers and the policeman,
The dirtiest of your bras and underwears,
They are worth only our utter contempt and disdain.

    Enough is Enough.
    It is time for change.

  6. Parade them naked and get them whipped
Rapists will dread this day. Their imprisonment will be touched with a ‘whip.’ The idea is to parade them naked and have them whipped by the public.

This way, the otherwise monotonous imprisonment curriculum of the rapists will also be taken care of.

Ideas can be varied. They may stem from different perspectives but the motive behind every idea is common, i.e. shame the rapist.
So what according to you would be a perfect idea to deter a rapist?
