   CAPE TOWN. On the back of the fourth gay hate-crime in two months, South African lesbians have stated that they are changing their approach to corrective rapes from the current marches, petitions and outraged Facebook statuses. “Ja, we’re over that,” said spokesperson Tofu van der Walt. “From now on, we’re all about the corrective castrations.”
   In the wake of the attack on a lesbian in Crossroads late last week, the South African lesbian community has announced a policy shift in the handling of corrective rapes.
   “Following a 17-hour non-hierarchical stakeholder consultation, after checking that everyone had eaten their fill of organic humus and walnut loaf, we have resolved to counter the current epidemic of corrective rapes with a new approach of corrective castrations,” van der Walt said yesterday.
   “We considered a number of very valuable and valid alternative suggestions for retribution,” van der Walt explained. “These included making rapists listen to Tracy Chapman on repeat until their ears bleed, or watch Prisoner Cell Block H without ad-breaks until they beg for mercy, but it was decided that we didn’t want to stoop to their level.”
   She summed up: “So we reckon we’ll give them a break and just chop off their wieners.”
   Van der Walt announced that lesbians wishing to stand the chance to perform the corrective castrations on confirmed rapists will be selected “in the age-old way of lesbians internationally”.
   “We’ll be hosting weekly open-mic spoken-word evenings,” she confirmed. “The gay woman who performs the longest monologue rant against the patriarchy will win the right to wield the castration knife and keep it after.”
   “It’s from a Carrol Boyes salad-server set,” she added. “We’re talking solid pewter with some really stunning detail.”
   Lesbian activists are today meeting with the Department of Justice to discuss the rise of homophobic hate-crimes over the past year.
   “We are extremely concerned about these recent attacks on lesbians,” confirmed Justice spokesperson Traditionalist Shiboko.
   “We will be identifying the areas where these assaults take place, in order to organise fortnightly speed-dating events where these ladies can meet a nice husband so we can all stop worrying.”
   He added: “As a token of our commitment, we’re offering any lesbian willing to hang up her checked shirt a two-week holiday in Uganda.”

   Rapists may lose penis .

   The Osun government has sent a bill to the state House of Assembly, seeking stiffer penalties for rapists, including the cutting off of the penis.

   Mofolake Adegboyega, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, told newsmen on Friday in Osogbo that the bill recommended among other penalties, the cutting off of the « third leg’’.

   The commissioner said the « Violence Against Women and Children Bill’’, was aimed at reducing the incidence of rape in the state.

   The commissioner, who expressed sadness at the increasing trend, especially that of minors, said the state government was working out possible solutions.

   According to her, one of the ways of curbing the problem is the bill, which has been sent to the House of Assembly.

   She said the bill would spell out details of punishment for culprits within the confines of the law.

   She observed that until those who were involved in the inhuman habit were made to face severe punishment, they might never be deterred.

   Adegboyega referred to Saudi Arabia, where legs and even heads of culprits were cut off for serious offences, stressing that it would not be too much to cut off the penis of a rapist.

   The commissioner observed that it was shameful that not only the unmarried persons were involved in the act, but even elderly persons as old as grandfathers.

   As part of the government’s efforts to curb the development, Adegboyega said officials of the ministry had embarked on enlightenment campaign in public places.

   « We are going to schools to talk to children on how to conduct themselves, so that they will not play into the hands of men, who are out to abuse them.

   « We have also approached traditional rulers on how rapists can be brought to book, including placing a curse on them,” she said.

   According to her, efforts are being made to ensure that the authorities of the Police College include a course on rape in their curriculum.

      Pas moi, perso, car je n’ai jamais été violée… enfin je crois !

      Mais concernant toutes les femmes violées du Nigeria, c’est sûr!

      PS- et j’aurais aimé une telle loi en France, concernant ma fille aînée qui a été violée par son père, mon époux séparé de l’époque(à mon insu), et duquel j’ai réussi enfin, à divorcer, après m’être enfuie, cachée dans les toilettes d’un avion…
